Barnyard millets, also known as Sanwa (Hindi), Shyama (Bengali), Udalu(Telugu) or Tenai (Tamil), is another variety in Millets that taste like broken rice when cooked.

Barnyard millets grow widely in hilly regions of Uttarakhand. The millet is white, round in shape, and bigger than semolina (Suji) in size.

We source from our farmers in Karnataka. The millets undergo minimal processing, and no added preservatives are present.

Barnyard Millets are rich in both soluble and insoluble fiber, have a low glycemic index, and a good source of digestible protein. These millets are gluten-free and an excellent source of iron.

Barnyard millet has the lowest carbohydrates content among all other Millets.

One can make upma, pulav, etc. using whole barnyard millets; and idli, dosa, and chilla using barnyard millet flour.

Even a baby as young as six months old can safely consume this millet in the form of porridge.
